This fall Tammy had the pleasure of directing and choreographing a staged production of Christmas with Arcady at the Lighthouse Theatre in Port Dover with a performance on Saturday, November 28th. This concert featured holiday music written by composer Ronald Beckett and was performed by members of the music ensemble Arcady. This production will make its way to the Mississauga Living Arts Centre November 2016.
30 local performers sang songs of hope, joy, and inspiration at the Jazz Room in Uptown Waterloo on Tuesday, October 20th in support of volunteer projects in Kenya. I can’t thank the performers and donors enough for their contribution! I look forward to traveling to Kenya this January with my good friend and performer Rachel Babor to put these funds to good use!
Congratulations to Tammy Whetham for receiving Arcady’s Richard Carroll Award for 2014-15. Tammy is pictured here with Arcady Director Ron Beckett and a backdrop of her fellow Arcadians. The award honours the conductor/musicologist who was Ron’s mentor and also inspiration behind the concept of Arcady. It is presented annually to a performer who has exhibited exemplary service within the aims and objectives of Arcady.
This past week I spent several days in Boston for my first NATS National Conference. It was an amazing and enlightening experience attending seminars, workshops, masterclasses, concerts, and competitions surrounded by hundreds of enthusiastic voice teachers. One of the best moments was meeting one of my favourite musical theatre composers, Andrew Lippa.
